You have to edit the user.cfg file, just look for your name there, change it and save the user.cfg file.

where should my files concerning armagetron be all i can find is the programme itself is there something on the arma website i shud've also downloaded

get to C:/Documents and settings/your user name/

In there there should be a folder called application data. If there isnt, enable view hidden files and folders in the Tools/view menu. Then click ok and go into App data.

Theres a file called Armagetron in that, go into it, and then Var. In var, there is a file called user.cfg (or user_0_3.cfg). Open it in notepad.

In that file, go down to where it says PLAYER_1 NErD, and change it so it says PLAYER_1 Your new name.

Save it and exit.

Note that you need to make sure the file gets saved as latin-1 (iso-<something>-1), otherwise the chars won't appear correctly in arma.

well Windows vista it is C:/Users/your user name/

and to enable hidden files you have to goto the control panel->clasic vies->folder options on vista...I hate that about vista

well i was on about xp, aint used vista yet... is it any good?

i like it but there are a few problems
orcource I'm using RC2 and not the final release but here are some flaws

it takes a lot of CPU power. xp was barely over 1%
this is about 5-10 %

like i said up before i don't like the folder options in control panel

other than that and the way C++ is implemented it seams good
i think they focused more on implementing JAVA because it is great on this

also i like Aero theme

and right now getting and instilling drivers is a pain

o and networking can be a bit hard if you use more than just LAN

:'( well for now i'm a hopless noob i can find arma in program files i find settings ( in config ) i look for my user but i cannot find it if some1 could be kind enough to post a screen shot of what them on tht file or which folder its in tht woudl be gr8 thanks

There's a very simple alternative.

Assuming you're using Windows, follow these steps.

1. Find the Armagetron folder in the Program Files folder. ( Probably is at C:\\Program Files/Armagetron Advanced )

2. Once in the Armagetron Advanced (or whatever it is called) folder, open the config folder. ( You should now be at C:\\Program Files/Armagetron Advanced/config )

3. Open up Notepad and put these exact words in it:


4. Save the file as nerd.cfg in that same folder ( Armagetron Advanced/config/ )

* Make sure it did not save as nerd.cfg.txt ( it can't be a text file, plain text only )

5. Open up Armagetron and press the ~ key ( or whatever key you set console command for )

6. Type:


7. Your name should change to .:ÄvL:.ÑErÐ ( This will only be needed to do once )

* Note: If you upgrade Armagetron, you will need to move the nerd.cfg file into the new /config/ folder *

Bah, if you can't find the user.cfg, just use the search function of windows. (If you use windows)
