Guys have any of you been experiencing wild ping fluctuations recently on the CTWF server ?

my average ping is about 180 !! and 2 weeks ago it was about 60ish its making me look more of a N[][]B than usual

I miss actually contributing to gameplay and now just hang back coz I know I will get dumped if I attack. Def is out of the question.

Has something changed on the server ?

Cheers

It has been quite laggy the last days, that's true.

It's a trafic issue. What's causing it I don't know.
Try pinging this website (the same server runs the tron servers):

Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\ed>ping www.crazy-tronners.com

Pinging www.crazy-tronners.com [85.10.211.185] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 85.10.211.185: bytes=32 time=79ms TTL=50
Reply from 85.10.211.185: bytes=32 time=82ms TTL=50
Reply from 85.10.211.185: bytes=32 time=82ms TTL=50
Reply from 85.10.211.185: bytes=32 time=85ms TTL=50

Ping statistics for 85.10.211.185:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 79ms, Maximum =  85ms, Average =  82ms

Then ping, say google:
Code:

C:\Documents and Settings\ed>ping www.google.com

Pinging www.l.google.com [64.233.183.104] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 64.233.183.104: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=247
Reply from 64.233.183.104: bytes=32 time=24ms TTL=247
Reply from 64.233.183.104: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=247
Reply from 64.233.183.104: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=247

Ping statistics for 64.233.183.104:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 24ms, Maximum =  26ms, Average =  25ms

The backbone the server sits on is obviously experiencing some problems.
It often doesn't affect all players.
We've had it before, it always passes in time. Ususally in a few hours.
If not I will recommend a server restart to PTA.
