My best guess at it is that he wants to learn how to double bind. |

But what does that have to do with user.cfg?
My guess would be he wanted to know how to defend when someone left a trail up the middle of the zone. My answer, practice. For you, however, you can just bitch at them for dying too soon.
However, that also has nothing to do with user.cfg. So, he probably wants to put some special character (like "Ð", ALT-0208) in his name. My answer, figure out which character you want, get the value and enter the ALT-#### ( http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/ALTchrc.html ) into the user.cfg (PLAYER_1, near the bottom, you'll find it) while open into notepad. Also, check this out... http://forums.crazy-tronners.com/viewtopic.php?t=986
For you, however, just screw the special characters, they're overrated and look like shit, especially CRSP's. |

Heh, I made the graphics for most of them, but if you have a better way to crowd a character like ® into a raster of 4×8 pixels… tell me!
Anyways, these chars were not meant to be abused in this way
(btw, the reason I thought he wanted to know how to double bind is because “D with a bind” sounds like “ Double bind” to me, and the “(_)” looked like a lame attempt of drawing a double bind in ASCII art His mention of user.cfg sounded more like he didn't know what double binding is.) |

open user.cfg , user_3_0.cfg (for those who use 0.3) with editor ( the normal one )
search for : PLAYER_1
behind PLAYER_1 should be ur name, edit it how ever u want
armagetron uses ASCII (all normal keyboard charakters) and ANSI charakters
ANSI charakters : ¡ ¢ £ ¤ ¥ ¦ § ¨ © ª « ¬ ? ® ¯ ° ± ² ³ ´µ ¶ · ¸ ¹ º » ¼ ½ ¾ ¿ À Á Â Ã Ä Å Æ Ç È É Ê Ë Ì Í Î Ï Ð
Ñ Ò Ó Ô Õ Ö × Ø Ù Ú Û Ü Ý Þ ß à á â ã ä å æ ç çè é ê ë ì í î ï ð ñ ò ñò ó ô õ ö ÷ ø ù ú û ü ý þ ÿ
all this characters work
have fun with ur name
and warg not all characters work at http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/ALTchrc.html ... they will shown as a little 42 and sometimes as a question tag ->?
bye guys |

Well, Windows' ALT codes refer to the Windows-1252 charset, which is similar to Latin-1 (ISO/IEC 8859-1), but adds additional characters that are replacing the control characters at 0x7F–0x9F.
Arma uses the latin-1 table, and windows its own charset (of course, ms can't use already existing standards without modifying them and causing confusion), so that's why some characters that windows knows aren't known to arma, and replaced by a placeholder, 42. This only applies to windows-1252 characters, of course, characters not represented in it will most likely get encoded in UTF-8 (many chars, like ?, ?, •, —, …), and this will lead to other chars appearing in arma that don't appear to make any sense, for example é becomes é. |

looooooooooool
wrlt i bet u confusing everbody here i have a simple but right answer or that...
user.cfg is only allowed to be coded in ansi...
becous arma cant read unicode, unicode big endian and UTF-8
the normal user.cfg is coded in ansi if u put a non ansi charakter in, u cant save the file and u have to change to unicode or
something else and if u change, arma just creat a new ansi coded user.cfg file..

I guess we all missed the obvious problem. What's this have to do with "Crazy Tronners Public Clan Information ". Perhaps it should be moved. |

okay...
<<HaWK>> asked me ingame how i made my "Ð". so i told him to write in the forum.
thanks to you for the professional explanations. now i unterstand why my editor (Textpad) told me that ANSI is used, and when i changed the file's encoding, nothing worked
/me goes on the grid.
